The Mayan calendar has a perpetual 9 day cycle, which they called the “9 Lords of the Night”.
Interestingly their cycle has similarities to the 9 Stars in Nine Star Ki and Feng Shui.
In the Mayan cycle #1 is called ‘God of Fire’ , while #9(0) is the ‘Lady of Rain’
This is reversed from 9 Stars , where we have Fire related to #9, and Water to #1.
In the Mayan system #2 is called ‘God of Flint’, while #8 is called ‘Heart of the Mountains’. Since flint is stone it is not difficult to see that this is parallel to what we find in 9 Stars, where #2 is Earth while #8 is Mountain.
The #5 is ‘God of Infernal Regions (Death)’ in the Mayan cycle, just like in 9 Stars where #5 is often connected to Disaster.
#3 and #4 are considered Wood element in 9 Stars, and in the Mayan system they are called ‘Youthfull Lord’ for #3 and related to flowers, while #4 is ‘God of Corn’. Also here not much of a stretch to see the similarity.
The #6 , Heaven/Metal in the 9 Stars, is called ‘Lady with Skirt of Jade’ in the Mayan system and connected to Water.
#7, Lake/Metal in 9Stars , is known as ‘Goddess of Love’ in the Mayan system. The I Ching trigram Lake-7 is connected to female sexuality, so also here we can see a connection.

Except for #6 , we see clear similarity. This suggests that both systems may have a common origin.
This is maybe not so surprising as some of the folks that moved to East Asia in the early Human migration, have moved on into the Americas.
