Mayan calendar does not stop in 2012

For those who still believe (or fear) that the world will end in 2012, an older Mayan calendar has been unearthed and its calculations go way beyond 2012.

They used some interesting astronomical cycles: 117 days, 178 days, their classic cycle of 260 days, 365 days, 584 days and 780 days.

The longest time span they depicted was 6700 years, so our descendents can start worrying about the end of the Mayan calendar again around the year 7500 AD.

Research in Germany has shown that the decline in storks around Berlin between 1970 and 1985 coincided with less babies being born in the area.

When the population of storks started increasing again after 1995, there was also an increase in deliveries outside city-hospitals.

For folk beliefs and things like theories connected to astrology we will always find cases that seem to confirm the theory or belief. If only we keep looking for confirmation. But does that also mean it is true?

Being born in the "Winter" in Australia, July, why is my ES Month Piller telling me I am Yin Earth Sheep, which is Summer (7th July -8th August)? Why is July Summer all over the world?

Hi,

Because the Branches (in this case month Branch) are not tied to the seasons. Sheep month is summer in the North and winter in the Southern hemisphere.

What does change is the strength of the Fire in the Sheep. In NH the Fire is enhanced by the summer season, so it will be very strong. While in the SH the Fire in the Sheep will be tempered by the winter season, so it is not as strong as it would be in the North.

The Branches should not be seen as tied to the seasons.

Hi,

Thanks for you question, but it’s very hard to say anything without seeing the actual chart.

Four Pillars is not a matter of just counting up the elements, their position in the chart and their elemental strength on the basis of timeliness are also very important.

I was born 5 minutes before the change of the hour which would also have changed my day master. According to my current chart I am Wu Yi Wu Geng (stems) with Zi Hai Yin Zi (branches) but if I would have been born 5 minutes later my chart would be this Wu Bing Wu Geng (stems) and Zi Zi Yin Zi (branches). My question is, was I born on the cusp? and do I have lots of power in my chart in addition to resource?

If you are born so close to change of hour (or change of day), then you need to consider both alternative charts and see which one has been most relevant for your life so far. That’s not always easy.

When birth time is recorded there is easily a 15 minute error margin on it. So there is no other way.

There were some quakes around that date, but not in the expected place.

So what can we learn:

1)It is very easy to predict earthquakes if you cite neither the place nor the day.

2)It is a bit more difficult (but not impossible) to predict earthquakes if you tell the day but not the place.

3)It is very difficult to predict quakes if you are to tell both the day and the place.

Prophet's dilemma

We all know the concept of “self-fulfilling prophecy”. It is when a certain prediction causes it to become true. There are many classic examples in old stories and literature.

But the opposite exists too. When something becomes not true because it was predicted. The prediction itself (or the person’s response to it) prevents it from happening. This is called: “prophet’s dilemma”.

For example an astrologer may predict that somebody will become rich and famous after his 30th birthday. The person’s believes it and becomes a bit lazier, no need to study and work hard if he is going to be rich and famous soon. As result the person wastes his life and dies very poor. When he realized the astrologer’s prediction was wrong it was too late. Maybe if he hadn’t gone to that astrologer, he might have become rich and famous.

Or a woman who is lonely gets predicted that she will meet her life partner next month and will marry before the end of the year. She is happy to hear that, but now she becomes more nervous and tense when she goes out. Where will she meet her partner? Will he be handsome, or rich? The anticipation makes her tense. Because of her nervousness no man is attracted to her. When the month passes by without any significant new meeting, the woman gets depressed because she thinks she has missed her chance. She remains single for the rest of her life. How different her life might have been if she hadn’t met that astrologer?

Making a correct prediction can be harmful for a person. Making a wrong prediction can sometimes help a person. The work of an astrologer is very paradoxical. Sometimes he does a good job by making bad predictions. If that’s not a nice excuse?

Today is the start of “Awakening of insects” 惊蛰 solar term. It denotes the start of the month of Rabbit (Mao), which corresponds to hexagram 34 (Da Zhuang – “Great Vigor”) in Yi Jing. “Great Vigor” here means activation of the Yang energy. Now everything in nature becomes more active and grows up full with energy. The hibernating insects awaken and start to move. The energy and blood within our body also starts to activate and move from the inner organs outwards. But this is also a time of relapse of old diseases. That’s why some TCM doctors in China say: “With the start of “Awakening of insects” watch for old diseases”. Wherever there is a blockage in the movement of qi and blood, there will be obvious feeling of pain. Very common is the relapse of arthritis, chronic cough and liver diseases. It’s not a time for heavy tonification 重补, but rather for a light moisturing methods. There is an old tradition in China to eat pears during the “Awakening of insects” time. I think this is very reasonable, because at this time the weather is not very stable and fluctuates between cold and warm, and the throat and lungs are more vulnerable to dryness and infections.

this client born on 7 april 1977 at si hour has a lot of output no resource,yet she finished her studies early, shes a teacher anf loves it,with all that output. I was at the phone with her 30 min but after just 10 was ehaustedand at the end looked at the mirror and looked like a corpse. The Cycles of Life according to Yi Jing

Some years ago I have read a Chinese text from the qigong classics, which describes the changes of qi during the different years in one’s life. It’s quite interesting, so here is the translation:

Age 0 - 3 Pure Yin - hexagram 2 KUN (Earth)

Age 3 - 5 One Yang is generated – hexagram 24 FU (Returning).
The original qi (yuan qi) increases with 64 grains.

Age 5 - 8 Two yang appear – hexagram 19 LIN (Approach)
The original qi increases with 64 more grains.

Age 8 - 10 Three Yang appear – hexagram 11 TAI (Peace)
The original qi increases with 64 more grains.

Age 10 - 13 Four Yang appear - hexagram 34 Da Zhuang (Great Vigour)
The original qi increases with 64 more grains.

Age 13 - 16 Five Yang appear – hexagram 43 GUAI (Resoluteness)
The original qi increases with 64 more grains.

Age 16 - 24 Six Yang appear - hexagram 1 QIAN (Heaven)
The original qi increases with 64 more grains.

At 24-years of age we have gained 360 grains genuine energy from Heaven and Earth. In addition, we have 24 grains ancestral (genetic) energy from mother and father.
So, in total we gain 384 grains of qi in our life.
At the time of 24, pure Yang is complete, the essence (jing) and the energy (qi) are sufficient. If at this time of life one starts practicing qigong meditation, one can progress very fast and achieve great results.
From age 24 onwards the original energy starts to decrease.

Age 24 - 32 One Yin is generated - hexagram 44 GOU (Coupling)
The original qi decreases with 64 grains.

Age 32 - 40 Two Yin appear – hexagram 33 DUN (Retiring)
The original qi decreases with 64 more grains.

Age 40 - 48 Three Yin appear - hexagram PI (Obstruction)
The original qi decreases with 64 more grains.

Age 48 - 56 Four Yin appear - hexagram 20 GUAN (Viewing)
The original qi decreases with 64 more grains.

Age 56 – 64 Five Yin appear - hexagram 23 BO (Splitting Apart)
The original qi decreases with 64 more grains.

In the last cycle all the energy from Heaven, Earth and the parents (384 total grains of qi) has been exhausted. One cycle of the original energy is completed.
If the energy is cultivated through qigong or other energy practices, then the extreme Yin will generate new Yang energy. Thus, the old can enjoy vitality and be younger.

Despite the abundant Wood/Power this is a strong Earth DM chart born in Snake month.

It is fitting for an Earth person to work in social media, because Earth is the element that connects all the other elements.

He created Facebook during a 10 year Luck Period of Metal Goat, so this is strong Earth supporting Metal, which is Output/Creativity for an Earth DM. His Monkey day branch supports the Metal Output, so his ideas can quickly take root.

His Monkey Day combines with Rat in the Year, to form a semi-combination of Water. This means his ideas (Metal Output) can lead to great wealth, because Water is wealth for an Earth DM. When Dragon enters the picture it will make a complete Water frame.

Does it depend on talent? Or on high IQ? Or on your birth chart? Or on luck? Or on the quality of the teacher(s)?

So, there are some observations we can make.

A normal person will need at least 10 years to get 10000 hours practice in something, unless he has nothing else to do. A stimulating environment (e.g. parents) can help a person to reach the 10000 hours.

Of course, if 10000 hours leads to mastery, then it also means that a person cannot become an expert in more than a few things. But nearly everybody will become an expert in those things to which he dedicates most of his time.

Success is largely a matter of time and dedication.

It also means that average talent is not something that should hold you back.
